When local artist; Shari Elf decided to purchase an old photo booth on a whim in 2006, she hardly had any idea what to do with it. In a moment of inspiration, she decided to display her budding crochet collection within the booth. A fresh coat of lime-green paint came shortly there after, and just like that, the (self-anointed) World Famous Crochet Museum was born. As the museum gained notoriety, its knitted population began to grow thanks to all the donated crochet items sent to Shari from around the world.
Everything about the World Famous Crochet Museum is whimsical and extends even to the website which is told from the viewpoint of Bunny; a crochet alligator billed as the museum’s ambassador and in-house curator. You don’t have to be a fan of crochet to be a fan of the World Famous Crochet Museum since anything that fills your heart with a little bit of wonder and puts a smile on your face is worth all our affection.
