Jan 9 Kobe Bryant Murals (Updated 1/9/21)

Kobe and Gianna Bryant (along with John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah Chester, Payton Chester, Christina Mauser, and Ara Zobayan) lost their lives during a fatal helicopter crash on Sunday, January 26th, 2020. While all nine of their lives matter, the loss of Kobe Bryant hits particularly hard here in Los Angeles. An absolute titan in this city, he was a hero to some and a villain to others, with the truth probably falling somewhere in-between because none of us are without our own complications. And while discussions of such need to be had, I prefer to spend this moment celebrating life because we shouldn’t need tragedies like this to realize how fleeting and precious it can be. I’m not sure what compelled me to go out and capture these murals, but hopefully they can help replace some of the sorrow with love and remembrance. Kobe Bryant may be gone, but if the artists of LA have anything to say about it, he will never be forgotten.
