Easily mistaken for a ride at Disneyland (especially with its close ties to nearby Walt’s Barn), Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum has dedicated itself on the education of railroad history and the technology behind it ever since it was established on the grounds of Griffith Park in 1956. The all-volunteer staff of devote train enthusiasts is pretty much responsible for the construction and maintenance of everything you see at the museum, including its prized attraction: a miniature train ride that you saddle like a horse in order to traverse its 1.5 mile-long track system. The 12 minute ride passes through a miniature old west town, several bridges, and even an abandoned mine. No matter what age you are, this experience will definitely bring out your inner-child and makes for a unique Sunday excursion. This magical operation is completely donor-operated so consider giving a little more than the suggested $4 ride donation to ensure that the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum will exist for generations to come!
