Breceda’s famed sculptures can be found in Galleta Meadows in Borrego Springs, CA.
Breceda also has a gallery in downtown Temecula. (41950 6th Lot B Temecula, CA 92590)
If you’ve lived in California long enough, you’ve probably seen a picture of it at some point; a giant primordial serpent swimming through the desert of Anza-Borrego State Park. This mythic creature is the centerpiece of Ricardo Breceda’s amazing array of sculptures that can be found in Galleta Meadows in Borrego Springs, California. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to see these sculptures in person, you know what an amazing sight they all are. (You can read my write-up about the sculptures of Galleta Meadows here)
Admittedly, Borrego Springs can be a little remote for most, but you can still view the works of Ricardo Breceda a little closer to “civilization” at his working gallery just outside of Temecula. Born in Mexico, Breceda considers himself an “accidental artist” who went on to become a highly sought-after sculptor & designer. Across this sprawling outdoor gallery, you’ll find hundreds of Breceda’s trademark rust-red sculptures “roaming” the grounds, and on most days Breceda himself! Much of his inspiration is drawn from the Old West, the animal kingdom, and prehistoric times, but you’ll find a few Transformers, Iron Man, and even a Xenomorph from “Aliens” sprinkled here and there. Every piece at the gallery is for sale, and Breceda is available for commission as well. If ever I get a backyard.
